Signs You May Have an Ingrown Toenail
- Swollen toe - As the nail grows sideways into your skin it will often cause your toe to swell.
- Redness on the side of your toe - A common sign of irritation or infection is redness. If you notice redness around the swollen area causing pain, you may need to seek medical attention.
- Consistent pain when you try to wear shoes - Any unusual pain when you try to wear shoes should be monitored. Call our foot doctor if the pain doesn't go away or gets worse.
- Skin growing over your nail -
This is never a normal thing and should be treated before it gets worse. The longer an ingrown nail goes untreated, the worse it will get.
